Dortmund announced on Saturday that a deal had been reached that would see the Armenia international move to Old Trafford, and the Red Devils have now confirmed his arrival.
Mkhitaryan was voted the Bundesliga Player's Player of the Season in 2015-16 after scoring 11 goals and making 15 assists.
He becomes Jose Mourinho's third signing since his own arrival in May after moves for Eric Bailly and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were completed earlier this summer.
