Gen Buratai urged Nigerians, especially those in the southern part of the country, to be extra vigilant due to the possibility of fleeing Boko Haram insurgents spreading to other parts of the country.
Buratai said: “Due to our activities in the North East, Boko Haram elements have fanned out to other parts of the country.
“Some criminal elements now dress like Fulani herdsmen and go around the country committing crimes.
“In fact, they could be part of the Boko Haram elements that have fanned out and it seems like once they run out of supplies, what they do is to attack vulnerable communities around them, looting and killing.”
The Army Chief however assured that the intelligence unit of the Nigerian Army is already on the trail of these criminal elements.
He added that Nigerian Army is always willing and ready to operate efficiently in the overall benefit of the entire nation.
