Nigerians ask Fashola to step-down

Nigeria’s minister of power, Babatunde Fashola has been accused of not performing enough to revive the power sector in Nigeria.

The former governor of Lagos state recently described as false claims that he said he could fix the problem of electricity in Nigeria within six months when he was governor of Lagos state.
Fashola, w ho dissociated himself from such claims during a programme on the Nigerian Television Authority Network on Tuesday, May 24 urged those crediting the statement to him to stop peddling falsehood.
He clarified that he had only promised that he could supply a community in the Lekki area of Lagos with power from an independent power project in the state within six months with the permission to do so.
However, the clarifications the minister gave on the issue have not spared him from scathing comments from some Nigerians who accuse him of lacking the zeal to revive the power sector.
Others questioned the rationality of appointing a lawyer to head such a crucial sector as the ministry of power, works and housing and asked the minster to step down.
